Such a long time since I have written here - all is well in the Skovhuse house and the usual activities of job (lucky to have one) family (ditto) and knitting (the stash is still here) have kept me busy the last couple of years. Since I last wrote my thoughts about education, studies and future possibilities the situation here in Denmark has changed - for the worse. As in many other places. Some people whose chose wisely (seen from my view) ended up not being about to find work - nurses and teachers are among those having a hard time. However, they do have the possibility of finding work in the local "land of opportunity" aka Norway - granted a colder, darker place. However pluses are lots of ´lovely scenery and job opportunities and very high wages (just remember to take some food along - prices are high too)
Would I chose to go to Norway if I was unemployed - well probably yes, I'd give it a go. Certainly if I was younger and single I would. However I can think of a couple of single young men I know, educated with marketable skills but no job here in Denmark. But they refuse to consider temporarily re-locating. I don't understand why not - if they were my sons I would be very disappointed and doing some soul-searching along the lines of what went wrong in their upbringing?
There is something about the social system in Denmark that makes it too easy for some people to "lull" themselves - not that there is anything wrong with "lullabies" but they are meant to go to sleep to. And that should not be the goal of the government - not in my view. Unfortunately some folks are not that good at taking a long hard look in the mirror - both psychologoically, socially and physically. So, to say it concisely "all is not well in the State of Denmark" and will hopefully change before it progresses (or regresses) to "something is rotten in the State of Denmark" - for those who remember their Shakespeare...

Interesting and thoughtful reading
http://http://www.plantservices.com/articles/2009/006.html
Anyone know of a similar collection of websites that link to products manufactured in the EU (Common Market)? It can be very difficult to find "country of origin" on various products. I would like to buy to support more locally manufactured products - within reason.
Certainly one thing I advise everyone to avoid, are food productrs from China. I have heard too many digusting stories of how farming in China functions - from native Chinese persons...

Knitting makes me even happier
Generally I am a happy person. And one of the things that keeps me that way is knitting. I am in the process of knitting up my stash - presently it fills one medium-sized chest of drawers, called "en kommode" here in Denmark. Of course I did have to press the wool in, but it is in there, and gradually filling less. Here are some of my latest completed projects. I am on Ravelry as "Allou"

It's been a while
And today I was listening to an interesting report about the plight of fashion magazines - oh so sad for Vogue etc., the little fashionista blogspots are taking over the advertising monetas. So of course, my avid curiousity got the better of me and I just had to check out this little blogger mentioned on the radio "style rookie" and here on her blogspot I found a photo of boots I didn't buy in Swedens largest shopping center....but who knows I maay return for a second spree.
